Of rain on roses and ditch digging

On the way to work today I noticed that there were bunches of wild roses in the ditch ... and, being a rose lover, just had to have some. So I asked when I got to work if it was okay if I dug them up. I asked if Jennifer knew who owned the land. She figured out who owned it but couldn't find a way to contact them, but she thought it would be okay to dig them anyway. But, as I was leaving work, I was informed that I shouldn't dig them up (informed by someone other then Jennifer) because it would be stealing because they aren't my roses. I was rather sad, needless to say, but I agreed, it probably would have been considered stealing. On the way home I was thinking that there is a family who does own some land on the side of the road and I stopped by to ask if I could scavenge the ditches to find roses. They said yes, and that I could also have a little piece of the shrub rose that has been in their family for over 100 years!!! Also needless to say, I was THRILLED!!! I dug and dug and finally got some roses and then came home and planted them. :) However, I had to cut them back, so I didn't get any pictures of the blooms that were on them. The roses pictured are some roses I've had for a while. But the roses I got today are a light pink wild rose and a magenta-ish shrub rose! They're gorgeous!! I'll try to remember to take pictures when they bloom, provided they survive :).
