Prayer

In our question/answer time after the meal at church today, we got on the subject of prayer. And this quote came to mind.

"As to the nature of prayer, it is the offering up of the sincere desires and devout emotions of the heart to God. It consists of several parts of adoration, confession, supplication, intercession, and thanksgiving. The first of these is an expression of a sense of the infinite majesty and glory of God. Confession is an humble acknowledgment of our sins and unworthiness. Supplication is pleading for blessings upon ourselves. Intercession is prayer for others. Thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude to God for His goodness and mercy towards us and our fellow-creatures."
~Harvey Newcomb, "Young Lady's Guide..."

I benefitted much from listening to the discussion after church today. I am so glad that we have this time together on the first Sunday of the month. Thank you for this quote from "The Young Ladies Guide"...I always benefit from Mr.Newcomb's writings! Looking forward to our visit on Thurs., Katie Rose

I really like this quote regarding prayer. It is a great explanation on what prayer is. Thank you for posting it! I was both encouraged and convicted by our ladies group on Sunday.

I adore that picture as well. I have a framed copy of it on the wall in my bedroom--I've had it for over 13 years now, and I've always liked it.
