*~ Prayer of Betty Scott Stam ~*

"Lord, I give up all my own plans and purposes
All my own desires and hopes and accept Thy will for my life.
I give myself, my life, my all
Utterly to Thee to be Thine forever.
Fill me and seal me with Thy Holy Spirit
Use me as Thou wilt, send me where Thou wilt
And work out Thy whole will in my life at any cost now
and forever."

I love this poem. Betty Scott Stam's story has inspired me so much...I remember listening to Elizabeth Elliot talk about her on her radio broadcasts when I was younger. Did you know that I have a book of her poems? Mama found it for me. In the inside page is a beautiful little inscription from a husband to his wife, who were both apparently missionaries in China. You will love it. I'll try to remember to bring it next time I visit! Love, Kat

I just heard this quote from Jim Elliot's daughter.
I never heard this quote, but after adopting our baby from China I say "Amen". God planned that this Jewish woman (me) would find Jesus as her Messiah and adopt a baby from China learn Mandarin and be called to the Chinese people. God is amazing and His plans are more wonderful than we could imagine. Hold on to His precious promises. He LOVES you!

Thank you for publishing this prayer, and I like the drawing included with it. I just heard Elisabeth Elliot on Gateway to Joy this morning talking about the impact Betty Scott Stam had on her as a young girl. Betty and John Stam died when she was only eight. She read the prayer, but I didn't catch it all, so I was glad to find it here. Blessings!
